To make a long story short- we have been trying to have a baby for 5 years. We had one miscarriage in late 2017/ early 2018. It was a blighted ovum, and for those who don’t know, that is a nonviable pregnancy in which the sac forms but no baby is present. This was so upsetting to us, as we had been trying for so long and finally had been to a fertility doctor who put us on medication to help us get pregnant. Our miscarriage was prolonged for 4 months, where Kelly almost went septic and we ended up needing to have a D&C… so, needless to say that was traumatic. We continued with fertility treatments when we moved to Charleston- but then Kelly tried to take a bed frame upstairs by herself and ended up needing knee surgery after sustaining an injury so the infertility clinic was put on hold. We decided to just try naturally one more time before we decided to move forward with adoption. We have felt strongly toward adoption for a few years, but we wanted to be settled into a home and routine before we moved toward adopting. We finally feel like we are in a position where we are financially, mentally and emotionally stable to raise a child so we are excited to adopt!
